Family Medicine
Certified Practitioners
Our medical staff is certified in Family Medicine and will provide you with quality medical care. At Osteopathic Healing Arts, we treat the patient as a whole and focus on finding the health in the individual rather than the disease.”
Personalized Approach
With extended visits, accessibility via text, video chat, email, and phone, our members have greater access to their medical provider. This offers both peace of mind and the ability to build a strong doctor-patient relationship.
For The whole family
We offer comprehensive family medical services; all ages and conditions are welcome. Our DPC model allows each family member to receive primary health care for a low monthly fee.

Family Doctor
At Osteopathic Healing Arts, LLC, we offer comprehensive family medical services for patients throughout Chicago. All ages and conditions are welcome for their primary care needs, both acute and chronic.
Affordable Family Care
Through our Direct Primary Care (DPC) model, you will receive comprehensive primary health care at Osteopathic Healing Arts (OHA) and pay for this care through a monthly membership fee. This fee covers the primary family care services you see below and may also cover others not currently listed. We do not participate in any insurance or other plans, thus being able to avoid the ever-increasing demands and costs associated with accepting insurance. This saves you money and gives you a greater level of service, as we have more time to spend listening to and treating you and your family members.
Direct Access to Your Family Doctor
Direct access means you can speak to your primary care provider at your convenience. Because our practice focuses on providing ongoing and comprehensive health care for individuals and families through a DPC business model, you can ask questions via text, email, and phone. Not every issue requires and appointment with us, whereas, in a traditional practice model, patients need to see their medical provider face-to-face. This causes frustration because of the difficulty in scheduling an appointment any less than two weeks out. At OHA, we reserve time in our schedule every day for your acute needs.
Health & Wellness Focused
Family Medicine is the foundation of good health and wellness. You need a close partnership with your doctor or nurse practitioner who focuses on improving your chances at wellness. The standard healthcare system does not always focus on wellness, and certainly does not promote individual partnerships/relationships between patients and their PCPs. We strive to change this with a new approach to Family Medicine – Direct Primary Care.
Affordable Family Care
At Osteopathic Healing Arts, we focus on direct primary care. DPC is a fast-growing model used by many family doctors and other primary care physicians aimed at delivering quality care at an affordable price. With this model, we emphasize continuing preventive care without the need for excessive paperwork, insurance, deductibles and delays. Instead, we offer an affordable monthly fee for services.

Therese E. Adams, MSN, APRN, FNP-C
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner
Mrs. Adams is a proud native of Mundelein, IL and so happy to be serving the community in which she grew up. Mrs. Adams started her nursing career at the College of Lake County in Grayslake, IL. She then received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Addison, IL. As an RN, she worked in multiple departments within the hospital setting ranging from medical-surgical to orthopedics to oncology. She also served at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Zion, IL for over 7 years before becoming a nurse practitioner. It was there that she found her love of holistic nursing and in turn, holistic health care. She was able to see doctors utilize homeopathy, supplements, and other complementary modalities to aid in the treatment and recovery of multiple patients. Mrs. Adams feels blessed to have joined Dr. Joseph Starkman in his practice. Not only does it allow her to incorporate natural treatments, but encourages her growth and education.
Our Main Services
Family Medicine
We provide comprehensive family medical services and treat individuals of all ages with a variety of health conditions, both chronic and acute. We’re trained to care for infants, children, adults, and senior citizens.
We implement this system of natural medicine which views the individual as a whole unit. Traditional Osteopathy emphasizes the interrelationship between the structure and the function of the body and recognizes the body’s ability to heal itself.
We treat adults with a wide range of medical needs. We’re here to assist our patients through all ages and stages of adulthood and to help them age as gracefully as possible so they can enjoy their Golden Years.
We practice this healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind & spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. Integrative Medicine emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of both conventional and alternative therapies.
